Individual counseling in Tucson for anxiety, grief and loss, and personal growth.
Helping clients build stability, insight, and meaningful change through structured, compassionate counseling.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming when you’re dealing with stress, past experiences, or uncertainty about where to begin. You may feel stuck or unsure how to move forward, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Supporting people through these moments is at the core of my work. I strive to create a space where you feel understood, respected, and comfortable being yourself. With more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health across public and private settings, I have worked with people facing complex life challenges.
Many of the people I work with are navigating past pain, relationship challenges, substance use, or high levels of stress. I also support those working through trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and difficulties managing emotions.
My approach to therapy is tailored to your needs and focuses on what will be most helpful and effective for you. Together, we work on building practical skills, increasing self-awareness, and creating steady, meaningful progress.
My style is warm, steady, and supportive. At the same time, I will help you stay focused and engaged in the work so that real change can happen.
I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable being your true self without fear of judgment. Therapy can be challenging at times, but it can also be a space for growth, healing, and moving forward in a more intentional way.
I cannot do the work for you, but I will walk alongside you as we build on your strengths, work through past experiences, and challenge patterns or beliefs that may be holding you back.
I look forward to supporting you as you move toward a more stable and meaningful future.

Individual counseling may focus on a variety of concerns depending on each client’s goals and experiences. Below are some of the areas Luz commonly addresses.
Clients seek counseling for many different reasons, and this list is not exhaustive. During the initial consultation or intake, concerns and goals are discussed to determine whether counseling at BrighterView Counseling is a good fit.

CBT focuses on how thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect feelings and behaviors. It can help you view challenges clearly and respond effectively. You will be able to de-stress, manage emotions, resolve conflict, and live a more balanced life.
EMDR is a type of therapy that involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process traumatic memories. Our goal with EMDR will be to help you heal from trauma or other distressing life experiences.
Living in the present moment and moving through life’s problems can be challenging. With DBT, you’ll learn four core skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation. In sessions, you will practice using these tools and applying them to better navigate personal challenges.
In a nutshell, mindfulness is paying attention in a special way: consciously, without judgment, and with relaxation. You will learn to identify shifts in mood without sabotaging, or engaging in negative thinking patterns. This will allow you to be present and able to fully embrace life.
Your relationship with yourself and others is central to happiness and well-being. Negative thoughts and actions can keep you stuck, holding you back from unlocking your true self. Together, we will explore how your strengths are overlooked and underappreciated tools that can initiate transformation.
Life can be complicated and sometimes you need supportive problem-solving. SFT helps shift attention and energy toward moving forward, instead of looking back on ‘what could have been.’ It places an emphasis on developing realistic solutions and helps you get through that temporary bump in the road.
